DEFINITION based questions

DEFINITION based questions for PMP: These are the simplest questions that you will see on the PMP certification exam; for example, the definition of risk, secondary risk, residual risk, etc.

DEFINITION based questions Example

Your company was awarded a new contract to build a stadium. You were assigned as a project manager, and the team members were introduced to their formal rules and responsibilities. During the first technical discussion meeting, you noticed that your team members were representing different technical points. Each insists that their point is correct. Since you know this is normal in this phase, you didn’t interfere. Referring to Tuckman’s ladder, in which development phase is your team?

  1. Norming
  2. Performing
  3. Storming
  4. Supporting

Explanation: The correct answer is “storming.” Since the team members were assigned and introduced to their formal responsibilities, the forming phase is over. During the storming phase, the team begins to address the project work, technical decisions, and the project management approach. If team members are not collaborative or open to differing ideas and perspectives, the environment can become counterproductive.

Here’s how to study for these:

You’ll simply have to know them. If you know the concepts, you’ll know what the definitions mean and these questions will be a breeze. Visualization and application of each term will give you context, and you’ll remember them more. Go back to the days of junior high, high school, or college and recall your best method of memorization. Studies show that writing helps imprint things on your mind, so start a personal glossary where you write and memorize 10 terms every study session.
